its do'able, but a lot of heartache. i was going down this similar path myself, just like you i have all the parts available from a donor/r&d engine but the more you figure it all out the harder it all becomes. it would be a waste of time unless you upgraded to the gd sti tmic aswell, but then unless you went a spec c intake manifold to bring the tmic off the firewall but because its the phase II motor, the manifold wont fit without major surgery.

anything is possible with enough vision and time, but a nicely tuned version iv sti with the right breathing and tuning mods is fun enough, after all you still have the spec c to play with!

Gav, I have done a 12.7 @ 101 MPH in my stock Version 4 STi (non Ra) only has a cat back exhaust, stock boost, standard ECU and airbox. So it'll be plenty fast enough with some mods.
I have an early Impreza auto FWD that would be a suitable donor, Make me an offer.

Find a nice Gen 2 Gav, comfy & sleepy You can even fit the gauges, send the harnesses to Al in Qld & for $600 you'll get one back that drops straight in.

Bloody addictive isn't it! If you do this and I don't see this thing on the track and at the drags you are going to be disowned from this forum!!! haha

I hope your kids don't end up with wonky teeth because of this!

Good to sense the gc8 passion in the air.

I've done the JDM V7 sti avcs engine conversion into a 4 door gc8 using a sti tmic. Quite a simple job really, just drop everything from a half cut in (including ecu), and you can reflash just like the new models.

Still tossing up if I shld do the 08sti dual avcs heads conversion. Everyone says I'm stupid to dump $$ into a 10 yo car!

Hope you know what you're doing here, theres a reason why you have to undergo rigerous motorvehicle examinations when performing cut n shuts.

Pics of undercarriage would be nice, have you peeled the the carpet, roof and related coverings back and had a looksee?

If I've read this correct and the car is in Australia, does it come with a certified engineers cert?

Last cut n shut we did was many years ago, and along the process we had to send pictures to the insurance company, and undergo many on site inspections along the way.
