Default long ratio 2.5T legacy 6sp

All,

Does anyone have any info on the above gearbox, I am interested in the ratios.

I ask as my current JDM 6 speed box is a little short for my liking, ie on the recent cruise in 6th gear it was doing 3400rpm doing 110-120 kmph.

cheers

Long ratio 05 DCCD USDM 2.5 6MT - ~2550 @ 100kmph (gps tested)

Short ratio 05 DCCD JDM 2.0 6MT - ~2800 @ 100Kmph, 3000rpm @ 110Kmph(gps tested)

Yours sounds like the really short spec c box possibly, or it could just be the short with a speedo error/wrong tire size on the car.

Hi Justin,

My 6 speed is a JDM 02/03 Bugeye Box, would it be the same as the 05 box you mentioned above??

cheers

By all acounts it should be, maybe try gps`n 110Kmph on the fwy and you should see ~3000rpm(subaru tacho`s have been found to be a little off sometimes...)

Whats the transmission code of your box ?
What size tires are you running ?

Gav, what is the code on the gearbox?

(it is a white sticker with black writing on the edge of the bellhousing, near the starter motor).

let me know and I'll check my transmission chart and tell you all the ratios.

It will be something like TY856Wxxxx

There's a Legacy/Liberty GT spec B 6 speed with longer ratios than any of the gearbox code charts list. I've counted the teeth myself to be 0.70 in 6th.
Not the new MY10 Liberty gearbox (which is not the same type as the previous STi box) it's in the 2.5 cars from MY07 onwards.
No speedo drive though.

According to my charts all the 6 cylinder 6 speeds are close ratio, even the Aus spec.

(I'm not talking about the new one that looks like an old 5MT, I don't even want to think about those)
