Rac won't insure the rex with the mods listed in the first post...so HBF are out and so are RAC..Don;t have a business so wesfarmers is no good for me...
does that mean just cars maybe the only option? I rang them when I bought the rex and they were expensive... |

There's also insurance brokers, I was with one for a while & they weren't too bad with a claim. Pricy tho, I forget who their name.., EBM.. maybe EMB, They’re in West Perth anyway.

I am in the 17-25 age bracket for most insurance companies and alot of insurance companies to insure my car with just the exhaust and suspension mods charged me alot or wouldnt cover me. Just car are expensive but cheap for what they do cover you for. but you do have a massive excess. Im with just car. Also with the business thing. Unless u use ur car as a delivery vehicle, taxi, charter, chauffeur and nething sorta like that then ur car falls into private. Still tax deductable as long as u keep a log book for 3 months of the car. I claim 80% of my insurance and its private. But i only use my car 80% for business.
But with just car and its unlimited mods thing was only option i had. i was told SGIO will also cover u but they charge alot of money and excess to make up for it. so all u can do is clal around Shannon may cover u aswell.

I found it very difficult initially to find a company that would insure the WRX in the company name, Just Cars said no and my insurance broker's contacts also said no. Eventually I found HBF, but now I have the modification bug, I need a company that will cover all my needs I'm going to give Westfarmers and Shanons a call tomorrow. I'll let you guys know the outcome.

nobody would insure me for my mods but just car. Might be the only choice you have, i think RAC have changed some of their procedures or theyre no longer insuring new customers with modded cars.
Shannons wont insure you unless you have a lockup garage. pfft |

Hey dude,
Im with wrxtatic on this one. Disclose every mod/change. I am with JCI and found them hundreds of dollars cheaper. (when vs RAC). ($1200 VS $2100). The offset for this is a higher excess/s to pay in an at fault claim. (Going on youngest driver - my partner). But really, if you disclose everything, you have the peace of mind of knowing things well get done right, and your car repaired to a level excepted by you. And the lower cost p/a I think outweighs the 'excess extra charges'. I mean, ideally, how many claims do you want to make a year, or ever? None. So why pay so much more per year, to have low excess charges? Just another food for thought, Cheers, Brent.
