hey guys i have been looking through the search but couldn't find anything on external wastegates.my question is are they illegal here in WA.back in NZ i know they are all good.

Yes they are illegal, as with anything that vents to atmosphere

External gates aren't illegal if they're plumbed back into the rest of the exhaust.
Or if they have a muffler, cat and exit the vehicle behind the rear wheels. But why bother with that?
