Default WRX Dilemma - Advice

As many of you will know from the photos - my 2nd hand my09 hatch was written off in the storm...

I am getting a new replacement which is great news....

However, I am going to be a dad in September and accordingly am trying to think like a sensible person... ish.

I have the possibility of an my10 hatch and my10 sedan or possibly a brand new XT Forrester.

There are advantages and disadvantages to all of them:

Hatch:

-- Child seat anchor points in worst possible spot, rendering boot mildly challenged. 4 - 6 weeks wait.

++Our preference on a selfish level.

Sedan:

-- Not my preference looks wise (no comments required ), pretty useless boot, and more hassle with dog and kid at the same time.

++ In stock right and ready to go.

Forrester:

--my08 donk, poorer handling, and bigger and more cumbersome, fuel usage etc. Never really wanted an SUV. 6 week wait.

++ Perfect for dog, kid, prams, camping etc etc. Still good performance and looks good in dark colours.

Can anyone with kids or relevant feedback please speak up! Especially those with the mentioned cars and kids.

Thanks....

I don't have kids but a Forester would suit a family anyday over the hatch & sedan WRX!

If its going to be used by family more than 50% of the time, go the biggest you can without doubt.

Looks like you have already decided on the Forrester. Throw a grand or 2 at suspension and you have your family fun car.

Not sure how you could squash a family into a hatch or sedan. You'd be sitting on top of each other.

What you need is 2 cars. Then pick the one you want. Works for me.
Need a family car? Drive hers.

Forrester XT Premium would be a good selection but not the poverty spec...buy a Liberty GT Sedan

sounds like the forrester will be a better long term solution for you.

altho the impreza sedan would still be sufficient for the time being... until you have more kids (or more dogs)

id say the forry
bending over to take the baby out of a sedan or hatch can take its toll on your and your wifes back. in the long run i think the forry would be better for you. plus better cargo space to put prams and your dog

then later down the track get a car that you want
