Default 22B @ auction

Kids,

The 22B went up for auction today at pickels. Done 22k and supposedly an absolute plum. Sold for $59k and was a private import. i.e. road registerable.

Other cars of interest was a female M5, 07 done 7k for $135500. 05 Gallardo for 175 I thought was cheap.

Doesn't pickles have a 10% buyers premium?

If so that would make it $64,900, still a bloody good price.

The people that looked at the 22B actually thought it was rough, had a re-spray and looked like done 150K rather than 22K..

but in any case its a decent price to say uve got a 22B..

Rough would be an understatement - there was overspray from the respray on the boot-lid rubber seal, speaker holes had been plastic-welded(yes someone had fitted a fully-sick sound system and then removed it before it was re-po'd) and at least 80% of the front and rear suspension bushes had been changed to crappy aftermarket ones and most of them are worn out and need replacing - I think 22,000kms would be once around the clock in all honesty.

The one thing that makes a well kept low kms 22B worth the money not just now but in years to come is the fact that once something has broken/worn out the replacement part won't be a 22B part (unless you have a "spare" 22B in your garage you keep for "parts") or in the rare event that a dealer may have ordered a part for a 22B back in 1998 and the person never collected it. Sure, a lot of parts were the same between the 22B and the standard 2-door STI (and type R) but some parts (although identical in every way) only carried 22B part number codes and the more that stay on the car from factory the closer the car is to being a "true 22B".

Sorry for the rant.

It must have been the one that was up a while ago then that got passed in.

I spoke to the auctioneer because I was bidding on something else and he said it was immaculate? Must have been the usual salesman bullshit.

I would like to know the full history of the thing because the guy privately imported in 08 but never registered it. If it is the same car that everyone is saying it is, he would of known that the 'collectors' value would not be there so he might aswell have driven it.
