If you bring a car here that has not been owned by you elsewhere for
at least 12 months then it will require a FULL inspection.

Whilst I can give no opinion on buying over east, I have driven the Nullabor across and can say it was one of the best experiences of my life.

You would need a minimum of 4 days to do the drive.

I created the other thread and ended up not doing it. However after a bad experience of having it trained over my wife and I have since flown over to the gold coast and bought a 4x4 and a boat and driven both back to Perth. The 4x4 was a private sale and I relied on a RACQ inspection and a box of spares to see me safely home.

It took 4 days of 5am to dark driving and was in the order of 4500km. We pre-booked two nights accomodation (good sleep = safer driving) at about $90 a night. the third night we slept in the back of the car just over the WA border - that is an experience everyone should do.

Lugging a boat behind the 4x4 drank more fuel and it still cost us only around $1000 in total. Big piece of advice is take spare fuel tanks as some of the petrol stations open dodgy hours or don't exist as marked on a sat nav.

The car and boat trailer were registered in QLD and we were fine to drive through QLD/NSW/SA without a permit (i called each state to confirm). We pre-booked a temporary moving permit for WA as both the car and trailer would be unlicensed on our side of the border.

Again both had to go over the pits for a full inspection.

I'd do it again - but maybe a bit slower to enjoy the journey more then just trying to get home.

Not if you have a break down or hit a roo crossing the nullabor.

Ship it back and and just fly between the city's you want to go to as
over there flights are cheap as fuck between major city's.

Oh and don't forget to get a compression test.

If not the roo's the goats that will get you! I'll admit that driving at dusk nearly ended with us collecting a baby goat. But you just get behind a truck and they clear the way for you.

RAC inspection has a 30 day guarantee on problems they did not detect(financially speaking ofc) and insurance solves the roo problem, hitting one at 100k's it would probably be a write off and i turn around and go find another rex lol

What are others thoughts on the compression test? the car would have had to have been thrashed pretty bad to fail one wouldn't it?
