Every time I've been in they just seem to have kitchen ones.
Same place as the other ones in the FIRE Safety section John however they were out of stock for awhile as they were all recalled but are fully restocked all the time now, the one next to Dougies or the Cockburn one have them.

Mine came from Cockburn Bunnings which isnt far for you.

To answer the original question, there is nothing based in law that says you have to or can't have one in your car.
Only to the extent that anything fitted to you car cannot destract, prevent he driver from having full and proper control of the vehicle....

and in the event of an accident it has been fitted so as not to come loose and be able to injure any passengers etc.

So pretty much if your not using your car for track purposes or need it for cams approval then it doesn't really matter if you have one certified/approved.
The reason i ask is i found this extinguisher from the UK and there standards are obviously different from ours.

Thanks for all the replys though guys!!

i would say the extinguisher itself will need to be certified as in meet Aust standards etc, that's about it. why get one from the UK though? can you post/send extinguishers overseas?

ps: i was selling the 1kg ones for around the $25 mark.
