Default stechnics or dealer for service?

My 11wrx due for 26000 service, any real benifits of using stechnics or dealer? Leaning towards stechnics. Prices ?

Chalk n cheese - Stechnics cheaper. Price dependent on service requirements. Dont have to mark parts to check they were replaced. Supplying own fluids can further help with costs if you know what to get AND can get at a cheaper price. IE - you can order 6 oEM oil filters from US at same cost as one or two in AUS.

Not all dealers are cons but usually always more expensive and look to value add to your costs. Also there are other reputable service centres other than stechnic who are noted in various sections of this forum.

Search - covered many times before.

Pros:
  • cheaper (especially if you rock up with all the needed fluids in the car)
  • closer to home
  • get to engage with the person working on the car and watch/talk to them

I had mine recently serviced by STechnic and a few days later received an automated service reminder for a booking at Subaru (which I didn't request), when I informed that I had my service performed by STechnic they immediately told me that my roadside assistance or something like that has been voided as my service was not performed by Subaru.
I think they said "service not performed by an MTA recognised workshop" over the phone.

Might be an idea to ring up and ask them what ramifications you will have if you don't get the car serviced by them.

Overall, very happy with the work Doug and the guys at STechnic do

I would have thought the new licensing requirement laws would have made this statement invalid?

Tell them to put it in writing & the valid reason why.

They're not voiding the warranty, that's illegal. The deal is when you buy from an AHG dealership you get free roadside assistance provided you service the car at the dealer.

CSB time: I had the auto service notice too, when I called to tell them I was going elsewhere they said 'oh but you'll lose your roadside assistance!' and I asked if the brand new car they sold me was likely to need it anytime soon, didn't really have a good answer for me
