Default 2007 wrx engine light

Hi Guys,

Im a noobie so not sure what it means but i was driving it to work this morning and pushed it abit since there was no traffic @ 5am. Then the engine light came on and now still there. I have it booked in for service on thursday so will get it checked out then but any ideas? I dont think there is anything i can really do other than check the oil levels? I made sure that the engine was warmed up before i fanged it. The car had some work done to it. Verso Tune, bosch fuel pump, TBE exhaust done by ASG.
thoughts?

Get workshop to read the code. 5 seconds later you will know what the exact problem was. Get it fixed and continue.

If I had to guess... O2 sensor on the exhaust.

Wastegate solenoid range/performance, because its overboosting cause of exhaust
Just guessing.

Overboost condition would result in boost cut and an engine cut to the car when on full boost which would have freaked you out a bit, and a CEL afterwards, which is cleared automatically after a few engine restarts.

Usually ASG up the boost cut though.

If it stays on, the i guess rear 02 sensor maybe. Hard to tell without ODB scanner. Take it back to ASG to get the code read, or get soemone from here to check then go from there.

A range/performance code is not the same as boost cut.
The ecu sends a signal to the wastegate solenoid to control boost, it's logic says: for the desired boost, I use this much duty cycle. With an exhaust fitted, it will consistently boost higher, not nessacarily hitting boost cut, after a predetermined amount of cycles with it overboosting, the ecu determines that something is wrong with the solenoid, because at the desired duty cycle the boost is higher then it should be.
So, you can see, that it doesn't have to hit boost cut to have CEL.
'06 onwards have this as part of OBD
Verso can disable the code. If, indeed thats what it is.

Same happened to me the other day, took it to STechnic, and was diagnosed as either the O2 sensor in the exhaust or the cambelt sensor...according to the error code...only when the car was warm and given some throttle does this light appear.... :/

hope this helps

Brett
