Default Oem parts

Hi, guys,

My my09 wrx is close to its 50,000km major service. I don't realy want to go to dealer to do it, as they charge me $600+ for labour.

Hence, I contacted STechnic, and they gave me a much lower quote, $350. Now I need to buy some OEM parts myself.

Apparently, I need to buy oil, oil filter, trans fluid, brake fluid, coolant and diff oil. So far, I have got redline 5w30, k&m filter, castrol syntrax.

Does anyone know where can I buy OEM coolant, brake fluid and diff oil, apart from going to dealer? Which I realy want to avoid.

Get some castrol Dot4 brake fluid, 2 bottles should do the trick, maybe a 3rd, but check with Doug on how much he will require.

As for coolant, i would just use any that is green. IMO the subaru stuff is a rip off and any Nulon stuff you can get from supercheap does the same job at a fraction of the price.

Same thing with the rear diff/gearbox oil, i'd ask Doug what he would recommend for your car, then go buy it yourself. I think i have used castrol syntrax/multitrax in one of my foresters before. Worked fine.

Good luck

Wow!..... You are so far off the mark here mate!

Just because a coolant is green doesn't mean squat! there are currently 5 different chemical combinations that are green..... And only two work well with alloy.

Use a quality ethylene glycol coolant if you don't want to buy genuine, but genuine is the best for the long term.

Last time I went to dealer for a oil change, they told me they use syntrax as oem trans fluid, not sure whether it can be used as diff oil.

I dont know why people get so annoyed at the price of a quality coolant. People are happy to fork out $60 for 5L of oil that gets changed every 5000km. Yet the same amount for coolant that gets changed maybe once every year or two is somehow a rip off.

The genuine Subaru coolant is good shit. use it.
