I work for a dealership(though its heavy machinery), you can buy a part with our logo/part number and it will cost nearly twice as much as what you would pay if you just went and bought it from the manufacturer.

Quality is the same, only difference there is, is that it has our company logo and part number.

Not really worth it, just most people are too slack to look elsewhere.

We usually give people a non-gen price for stuff like STI brakes because they are so expensive, just as an FYI.
My point to begin with, was that brakes on these are not cheap, would suck to be hit up for at least 1500 including fitting after just spending 20G on a car.

Win.
Faark...well how about brand new DBA 5000 two piece rotors + Pagid RS28 high performance pads + fitting...still well under $2k....

...and OE isn't always neccessarily the best.

I don't understand why everyone is arguing with the dealership prices. It is the same across the whole industry. It's ridiculous, expensive, and in my opinion, such high margins should be illegal . But, as someone already said, if you're willing to bend over...

I'll buy a part from Subaru only if the price difference is negligible. Even then, I'll try to support people that don't try to rape me.

People are 'arguing' as the initial reply was to check the brakes as it is a $2000+ job to replace rotors and pads.

Others are pointing out why the fark you would get a Subaru dealer to put genuine pads and rotors on a 9 year old vehicle when there are much better and cheaper alternatives out there.

If you read my earlier post you will see, there is no "high margin". Dealership parts departments margins are similar to any other business. Subaru don't give us parts for nothing, the dealership still has to pay for them.

Subaru can charge what they like.. people will protest by going elsewhere if they think it costs too much.

If you wanna pay the cost, then go to Subaru.

It's as simple as that!

Also buying from subaru... It will always fit and look oem.
Remember though like john said before, people who buy STi's arent always driving enthusiasts and sometimes just know that if they take it to a dealer, they can fix it & probs even provide a lift/taxi voucher/loan car to get them to and from for the day.

Classic example was a convo i had in a office the other week. Dude owns a sti, doesnt give 2 shits about how much power etc but loves the "racing seats" as standard and the noise it makes.

Anyhoo, thread is about someone wanting to buy a wrx, not dealer margins/brakes.
