i think polar is the only one with a *running* 2.5, and even then, his is a lazy 2 yearold liberty motor, not an EJ257 USDM 2.5

... mines running :P
Not that i've actualy got many mods on it... but i do have some plans in the pipe so to speak... mid-april im coming up to do a few things, at this stage its looking like front & rear swaybars, springs, rear links, front strut brace, fuel pump, Tek2 (altho i am considering the MoTeC, just depends on what pricing it comes to).... and that's it so far.... but it'll be intresting to see what that'll resault in... at this stage it's pretty much stock except for the 3" Turbo-Back Stainless Exhaust... engine wise... I thought you had to have a 2.0L engin anyway for rallying, isnt that the rule?

pete if u want a good reliable 2.5 dont touch the block and dont run too much boost. if u want to build ur block DONT let anyone in perth touch it send it to the eastern states to get built properly and MAKE sure u sleeve it. |

I don't think Stace is interested in some ppl putting a FMIC and exhaust on a 2.5 and running a 13.2.....
Hey tino, I did that with my old motor, and it still managed to get blown up by someone in Perth! |

Yes - But I am sure why it blew up had nothing to do with it being sleeved or not

Hmmm
Until Subaru start shipping 2.5L's into Tarmac Spec C’s, I don't think I would go a 2.5L. To me, logically the only thing you can do is shave down the walls to have extra displacement on a block that has to fit the original dimensions of a 2.0L blocks, something's is going give and most likely it would be strength. I think the more you start playing around with bits to make it stronger the greater chance something or someone's is going to stuff something up internally. Stacey's unopened EJ207 is a prime example of how strong they came out stock, just because something is new does not mean it’s always better; same can be said in reversal in some cases. Since most people here on this forum do not run "stock" and makes it even more to the point that with modding, you run the risk of blowing something up and generally playing with theories that may or may not turn out to be beneficial. |
