Badly built 2L = badly built 2.5

Well built 2.5+ = all the fastest wrx's on earth (9 sec club and lower)

Lewis its a 2.5 N/A open deck block which has been closed decked by PMS no other mods asfaik except pistons and rods etc..

However hes only had a piddly lil turbo (blowing 20psi?) on there so imo not much stress being put on the block or cyclinder walls.

Id like to see how a GT35R is handled by that block but simon chickened out and went for a GT30R.. hahah

Not really, a 2.8ltr 4 cyclinder starts to have reving issues as the rotating piston becomes more square like in its movement. Thus limits rpm down to around 5-6rpm and theres a huge stress on the crank.

Anything bigger than a 2.5 4 bagger id gom with a 6 in terms of displacement.

A 2.5 that is closed decked like mine appears to be just as strong in relative power figures as a 2L that is closed decked. My car made 340hp@wheels on its old turbo at 15psi peak boost. For my money this is pretty good. Sure the 2L can take 25psi if its tuned well and probably squeeze a tiny bit more hp but you would have to say they are equal just different. One produces power on lower boost with more torque, the other can rev longer with more boost.

when my 2.5 is back together with its heads serviced and 272 cams and the baby Td04-3040 we shall see if 2.5's are totally shit.
