Just to clarify, Jester was right. My engine is not a US spec 2.5 like the others that have popped... it is a Naturally aspirated 2.5 liberty RX engine from the USA completely worked over by Perfourmance in QLD.

Differences between my engine and ones that have popped:
- Fully Closed Deck
- Plate Deck Honed
- Short block assembled in QLD not by Maximum Clearance Motorsport or RacedidItorquethatboltmehwhocares. The 2.5 i have ridden in from Max has piston slap coming out its arse and my car starts silent. Add Tino's 1cm Clearance no compression build and u have good evidence of stupidity.
- My engine revs to 7500 at full boost now and sometimes I forget to change till 8000. as the italians say about ferrari engines "She no break".

My cars not the fastest out there in terms of dragging.... but on the freeway the top end is unstoppable. I have pwned 4 GTR's including Krupt and the 10 second purple speckle lookalike car, the one thats not 10 seconds but has same paint job.

If you look at it this way .... my 2.5 makes 346hp@hubs 19psi at the wok and thats with a Shit old internal wastegate thrashed out GT25 and a shit link with a shit stocker boost control system that drops 3psi between 5500 and 7500 instead of holding it.

Try doing that without a super well tuned 2L. Sure stace makes more power etc but his 2L is MAX tune. Put the same quality computer and engineering onto my block and I bet it would do much more peak hp.

In summary ... 2.5 is fun to drive around town and pwns on the freeway if u have a big turbo fitted. So if you are going to buy one, why dont you buy a short block from the place that assembled the 2.5 that has done more than 45,000km's at 20psi (my engine), Perfourmance. Only place in perth i would get to build a 2.5 is speedworks.

Nothing to be proud of there. I kept up with KRUPT roll on's with only 12 pound and the other one isn't even a GTR, its a always pinging RB20.

What is your peak torque figure Polar?
Care to post your dyno plot?
Staces 2L is max tune with a turbo thas in the same size as the VF range and i'd hazard to guess comes on power alot sooner then yours

Wait till Sean does his 207 build and we will see

Also keep the bragging to antilag.com!

I only mentioned the cars that ive chopped for reference as to waht its like to own a 2.5 with a laggy turbo. Other recent chops include Barbarian (black Xr6turbo ute)....He gave it heaps from the lights but I still passed him from behidn to in front before the merge entering mitchell freeway.

I went for a ride in a mates car who has maximums build and his 2.5 is hell torquey with the VF28 and stock everything else.... feels like a 5.7V8 down low and the take offs are neck snapping...but it runs out of puff at 5000.... so that kinda show how different the 2.5 is if you leave every other part stock. He has bad piston slap cause the clearance on his block is like ~7thou apparently.

As requested here is a dyno chart...this one shows my car vs another speedworks 2.5 that has a t67 and has the AVCS heas (GDB shape). You can see how my cars turbo is holding it back from going past 340 and its not coming in much earlier than the t67 anyway.....anyone wanna donate to my turbo fund?

I think that the idea of fairy dust and subaru magic dissappearing if you open the block is mainly because subaru build thousands of these and have it down pat.

Therefore, if you buy a short block from perfourmance or axis racing or crawford you are much more likely to have the fairy dust included becaus they are shipping hundreds of these blocks a year. Doing anything more makes you better at it.....eg starting flame wars, I'm now pretty good at it but u have to start out slow.

For the record im not starting a flaming war i'm just curious about your setup.

Why do you consider your turbo the bottleneck when your only running 20psi? What injectors are you running?

Personally I don't like where you peak power and torque come in at but whatever floats your boat.

I run a 2.2l long stroke EJ20 for quite some time so not really new to added displacement motors.

I know this car and there are a few other things holding it's top end back. I am sure its corner exits speeds are excellent and would be very suited to the track work we see most commonly in perth. But correct me if I am wrong this is of no concern to you?

This is exactlly why the magic is gone. Common opinion anyway.
