I met Steve in 1993 back at the original MMS workshop when he spread his time between there and Tyre Torque next door. Steve was, despite his often grumpy facade, someone who was extremley generous with his time and always there to help. Nothing was too much of a drama, but if he thought it was a dumb idea you sure knew about it.

Over the intervening years I have been lucky enough to be part of the team at MMS as both a service crew member and co driving for a number of their customers. I can recall numerous times burning the midnight oil getting a car ready for a rally, fearing for my life when he drove (those that have been in a car with him will know what I am on about)and a hell of alot of good times.

Nobody has ever touched one of my subaru's other than Steve, every engine, gearbox, tune has all been completed by Wiz.

You will be sorely missed and I have been privelaged to call you my mate.

RIP Steve, you have played a massive part in my life and changed it forever.. It's great to see all the messages of tribute and support from everyone, I spent alot of his last week by his side and he went out happy knowing everyone was there for him..

my last great memory was when I told him Rob finished 8th in a stage and he managed to prop himself up in bed and signal for his glasses so he could have a look for himself, the most energy we had seen for a while..

will truly miss ya mate!

Bye mate. You are an inspiration to us all with the hard work and dedication you put into everything you do. That look you gave when about to deliver the hardened truth will be what I always remember. The "No holds barred; tell it like it is; if you don't like it - stiff" attitude was Wizza's way. You've given me hours of advice and I've been in your way in your workshop for countless hours more. You've worked on every one of my 6 Subaru's and helped bring my 2010 Spec C to life. I am forever grateful for everything you've done. Gone too soon...

Condolences to the family, Rob, Dean, Daniel. We've lost one of the good guys.

It's been a long time since I've been around here I just opened up outlook to get my emails & to find this out I'm shocked I had no idea. Steve was the only guy I've ever dealt with, anytime I rang up I would always ask for him & all you had to do was say your name & he knew right away who you were & your car which amazed me the amount of people mms deals with.

Great guy & will be missed by many, condolences to his family & mms.

RIP steve

Unhappy Wow

What a shock. I sent steve an email today asking him how he was doing... He's the reason that I've owned 4 subies. I'm sure I'm one of many that have milled around the workshop while he's wringing horsepower out of your car on the dyno.

Rest in peace mate.

I only met Steve twice, but on those occasions he was very helpful, knowledgeable and he definatly gave you an honest answer.
It's very Sad to loose him for many enthusiasts but mainly for his family.
RIP mate.

Steve was such a genuine guy that told you how it was. Gave no bull $hit, took no bull $hit. Was always happy to have a chat anytime no matter how busy he was.

I still remember when Steve started chemo and got his Port-a-cath inserted in his chest. He referred to it as his dry break! I giggled when he told me and I still giggle when I think of it that way.

RIP Steve. You will be missed.
