Default 6speed gearbox questions :)

Ok so I want to put a 6 speed gearbox into my 99 gc8, now I'm not too bright on the whole dccd and different types of diffs u can get... Just wondering what do I exactly need to fit the 6 speed?... What's the best diffs to get?... And is it worth spending 2k extra for dccd?... Thnx

Unless you are getting a my06+ DCCD box. No it is not worth the extra $2K for a DCCD 6 speed.

What is worth it though is a plated rear LSD regardless of what model 6 speed you buy.

Whats your budget and goals with the car?

My budget is only about $7000, my car makes 340hp 400nm torque, it blew the 3rd gear on the stok 5 speed under pressure not changing gear lol so defently telling me I need a more supportive G/B. My goals are;
2.2 billet stroker for less lag n less chance of engine popping
And few other lil things to add a lil bit more power. Thnx for the reply

yeah $7K will cover a 2006 spec dccd 6 speed conversion. If you can do the labour yourself then you can fit in a R180 plate rear end conversion too. Otherwise you can stick with R160 rear end and just keep a handful of spare driveshafts on hand.

Hmm, I would not know were to start on putting it in my self, I've got a few qoutes from some garages and most are around $6-$6500 for installed non dccd and around $8-$8500 for dccd :/ I defently want to go for the r180 because I just don't have time/money to keep spending on shafts

What's involved in getting a 2008 STI 6 speed into a MY01? Is that going to require new shafts, hubs etc etc as well?

Its the same as any 6 speed conversion, except you will need to sort out a speedo sender. As the 08+ 6 speeds don't have a speedo sender in the gearbox.

You can do this by machining the bellhousing and fitting in sender gear. OR
the easy way. Go to DCCDpro.com and buy a VSSpro unit. It will take an ABS sensor signal and convert it into a VSS signal your ECU and dash cluster can use.

VSSPro $150.00 : DCCDPro.com

Also remember you wont be able to use a 08+ 6 speed shifter linkage. They are too long. You can get it cut down and rewelded or just use a 02-07 STI shifter linkage.
