Default S204 carbon rear spoiler

Wife has just been pulled over for having this rear spoiler on her car, told to remove the spoiler or get $100 fine, 2 points and a yellow prize stuck to the front screen...
I no carbon bonnets are illegal but a rear spoiler??
Anyone??
Deano.

Sounds like BS unless it's because you don't have a working 3rd brake light?

It's an Impreza anyway, so it should have the 3rd brake light in the rear parcel shelf. Tell them to get fucked.. I do see your wife on the freeway most days. It looks a little out of place tbh.

If you're worried about it happening again, go to pits, get a permit for it and that will stop them bugging you

We have AMG's at work with genuine carbon spoilers. They wouldn't be an option if they were illegal? My spoiler is carbon as well and never had any issues. Tell that cop he's dreaming....

Ring DOT and/or Police...ask for clarification...it sounds like bullshit to me (unless you were missing a 3rd brake light as previously stated). Bonnet yes, rear spoiler...no. Anyway it's probably f/g with a c/f top coat.
I would not be paying good money out for an inspection and permit if it's most likely not needed.

Went down to the pits this morning for a chat and clarification, first thing they said was what a cock of a copper lol. Secondly that carbon fibre has been banned in all aplications since the 90's so i have to fill out a modification application and send it off. Doesnt matter wether carbon fibre is at the front or rear of the car they say its because it splinters if smashed..... Similar to what fibreglass does??. Anyway will fill the form in and see what happens, getting a copy stamped at joondalup just in case the twat of a rozzer stops my mrs again for none removal of spoiler... She doesnt want to drive it in case she gets fined, points and a sticker!!

Evo's run factory carbon fibre centre blade, dont see how that is much different. Sounds like a load of crap.

The way he said it was if it came from the factory with it its ok but as a modification it needs approval.

Default Update

So after waiting 2 months for a reply from the powers that be my wife receives a phone call saying that the pits can and should be able to issue a permit for the spoiler as long as theres no sharp edges, brake light fitted and non restricted view so back to warwick we went explained what we had been told and voila permit issued easy as that!!
Finally my wife need worry about the rozzers no more!
