If you are interested, I have an evo 8 with heaps of work done to it.
It is an 05 model AUD model not a jap import, it has a legit 38k on the clock.
I have a motec m800, tein coil overs, tomei turbo, dump and exhaust.
Upgraded intercooler piping, spare wheel etc etc.
I have been offered 30k trade in, let me know if you want a look at it.

I appreciate the offer mate, saw it on carsales (the black one?) probably looking for something a little more stock to be honest.

From what I can gather it looks like the STi is a more friendly for daily duties, which this will be. Occasional trackwork.

Probably end with an 05 STi me thinks.

Cheers
Dom

OK, another small query, is it worth getting an STI with the DCCD? I know what its all about, but if the car is an occasional track car, but primarily a daily drive would an MY03/MY04 (non-DCCD) STI suffice?

DCCD is only necessary if you plan on tracking it... it will make a bit of a difference, but IMO, it won't hinder the fun you have if you don't have it.. I've done many many skid pans, never in a car with DCCD

Definitely worth getting an STI with DCCD IMO even for a daily. I think the diffs and torque bias make a huge difference.

As you are someone who has previously owned a 07 STI, I think you will notice and miss this feature.

Ps. you mention you are also looking at the odd track event. For the little bit more it would cost to get the 05 (not to mention they are newer) it is definitely worth it.

What 'track' work are you looking at and what is your driving style like?

No you don't need it, but it does allow for 100x more fun if you drive like an idiot (like me).

Wouldn't you want full open in car parks...unless you like it skipping and clunking on all the tight turns.
