Default Different Radar detectors

Apart from the Rx65 everyones raving about, curious about 2 different detectors.

I assume due to the price these are absolutely shit, but does any one have any experence with COBRA esd 9551.

Also the vector 955?

If you've had any experience with either, and think they are good or bad can you tell me a little as to the reason for your opinion!

Thank you!

this would also be helpful, as I'm about to invest in a Rx65 with my tax return.

anyone that owns one able to give experiences they have had with cops and lasers? and how many kms you are able to shave off with a multinova, and what are the false alarms like?

My mate had a cobra and reckoned it worked as good as my Vector LR. It seemed to pick speed cameras up from around the same difference and also picked cops up at a fair difference. I dont know about the rest though.

the Bell Vector LR or Bell RX-75 comes into its own on laser detection and multinova range.

i'd shave my balls if someone could prove a window mounted unit was more effective.

i use a bel vector xr950 (designed specifically for aus/nz). hasn't let me down yet when it comes to multanovas/hand held radar- plenty of warning- well worth the investment.

i picked up a Bel XR850 a few years ago for $400 and it's been worth every cent.
picks up radar-equipped patrol cars literally kms away, and isn't too bad with multanovas.

i've used a 990 International (same model era but more expensive) aswell and couldn't spot a difference between the two.
love it

have experimented with el cheapo american models from ebay and found them to be utterly useless - you get what you pay for!

i've got a whistler cost me $200 and works really well, has survived an excursion out the window under hard cornering at 70 kph and still picks up multanovas and police laser

wombat, thats really interesting, i was having a look at th whistlers, as theres a UWA graduate Electrical engineer selling em as a hobby, significantly cheaper with little markup. i then read an article saying in WA whistlers are useless, due to the Super Ka band not working as it should.

could you tell me which model you have?

cheers
Mark.
