Hey guys, im in the process of buying this sti if all the mechanicals aren't in bad condition.
Took it for a test drive yesterday and it seemed very nice, except one of the rear brakes sounded like it was metal on metal :\
The dealership said it's yet to go into their workshop to have everything looked at, also the dealer said the synchro needs replacing.

Just wondering if anyone on here knows anything about this specific car the can tell me before I make the investment

The dealer also said it should be in getting checked tomorrow and he would email me the details, do you think it's worth getting it checked out by an independant mechanic?

I would get it independently checked then try get them to fix what's wrong, then buy it at advertised price or buy it less the money to get it mechanically 100%

Well i just noticed they lowered the price since yesterday, so they may have found some issues with it. They lowered it from 28,990 to 26,888

Subaru Wangara....i think Blue Star is close by and Jim does checks from memory...

An AHG dealership selling an 05 STI for 26k...something must be up lol....

I don't know about you but I think that's pretty price for a car in its state, personally i'd go for a private dealer aswell.

i dont think its been there for very long, cos its only been on carsales for about a week

Just get it checked out, if its no good wait for another one or buy if its good.

Yeah, going in tomorrow again, going to see why they dropped the price in such little time and what the results were for this "check" they are doing. going to get it looked at by an independant too. ill see if Blue Star can take a look, hopefully the dealer doesnt mind too much. Not signing anything till i know its all good mechanically

Once you know, offer 25k. Its a buyers market.
