Default Howdy! Want to buy a Wrx again!

Hi guys!

Well it's been a while and my 05 cs8 has been gone a year or so. I've been not to well with several hospital visits and now pretty sorted and the itch is coming back strong!!

Would like a 09 10 don't think the budget would get to a 11 and I don't think I want a 11 anyway.

Leaning towards a hatch for something different (for me) but not 100% sure.

What's the main diff between the MY09 and 10?

People's thoughts got a 09 wish you had a 10 got a 11 wish you had a 10 so on and so forth? Got leather wish you didn't ie slippery ??! I kinda wish they had the older seats tis what I missed in mine being hard flat leather ...

Lol... Don't think I want to mod hence not wanting the 11 supposedly noisy cabin drone??? Confirm? But knowing me will probably want to down the track a little.... My 05 was lightly modded and quicker than a std 05sti but these newer ones seem to be quicker/better already.

Man there doesn't seem to be much around in WA.
I've been reading non stop for a few days now!

Thanks hope to see you soon.
Would be good to do a little get to gether with each one and a couple light modded ones to see the differences!

Anyhoo
Regards Matt

The MY11 gets you wider rims/tyres and flared guards (225/45R17 on 17x7 vs 235/45R17 on 17x8).
The flared guards come in handy if you are looking at getting wider tyres and tyres later down the track.
They also look very good on the road, but I could be a little biased there.

Fairly sure that there were only minor changes between the models, 09 should have come with 215 wide tyres, 10 should have come with 225 wide, quite possibly slightly stiffer spring rates.

Hatch is great if you want internal space, can easily fit a bike, washing machine, etc in the hatch where as you can't on the sedan.
The vents/grills in the rear bumper look like shit (my opinion).

Doesn't take much to get rid of that 1600 rpm drone, well for the sedan any way.
Got rid of mine by removing the Y splitter in the exhaust system and going for a single muffler.

If you are going to get something, get the 09/10 and stay clear of the 08, it had a number of differences inside and outside of the cabin (lower spring rates, smaller TD04 turbo, softer top hats).
The 09/10 would be a better platform to start on especially if you are going to be modifying the car at some point in time.

Mmm ok ye i as remember wrongly the suspension bits between the 10 and the 11 wide body..

Ye was definitely not going for a MY08 or even a 2008 MY09 as they still seem to have the shiny silver 205 wheels like I bought for mine at an attempt to soften my ride as it was brick hard....(then when the 09 came out i was like damn wish i had the darker colour rims! Supposedly the cs8 had sti springs but i couldn't confirm that and they certainly weren't pink but it sure as hell felt like it....

Hence now in my old age im keen to have something a little bit more softer than a STI like suspension with the 09+

The sedan has a bigger boot tho if your not laying things down...

Will have to have a look at the fins on the hatch don't remember seeing anything too bad on it... I just am not sure on the sedan looking like a accent / kia - so says the wife...

Hows the suspension on the 09/10 comparable to say a normal 03-05? Still a bit softer? Or same? Please don't tell me harder!!

Can't be fitted due to the fog light being fitted in the middle of the bumper

I'd be saving for the MY11....

The flared guards look heaps better.

IMO, stock struts leave much to be desired.
You can get some great springs/struts combinations that act way better than the OEM arrangement.

It also has a raised section before the rear seats, so you do lose a bit of space.
You also have the arms that support the boot which get in the way some times.

Do you mean the rear spoiler?
WRX one looks like dogs balls, STI spoiler is a much welcome improvement.
