Default Thinking about upgrades to 05 STI

Hey guys,

Have owned a Black 05 STI for about 7-8 months now around the cockburn area. She is always a dirty girl because of where i drive her so im toying with the idea of adding some improvements to her stock figure.

Im a complete novice with cars and have had a look around at common upgrades and parts to get but here are my thoughts, if you guys could help me out.

1) Want the exhaust upgraded, have seen Norm Butler pop up alot. Not sure if i need CAt back or turbo, whats the diff? Also price and where to get done?
2) General detailing to fix the scratches and bring the paintwork up?
3) And thats it, suggestions?

Budget a few grand just need some quality advice, see you at the drive on sunday anyway!

Thanks,
Beno

Turbo back will get you the most performance gains but will also cost more. Diff back will basically just be a canon attached to your stock exhaust from just behind the rear axle. Places like vision r, evolution r, nengun, carmodsaustralia or ultrex would be a good place to look. They'll come up on google.

Detailing I hear OCD detailing are very good but bit of a wait to get in.

Do you want more power or it to handle better ?

As mentioned above the cat back is just a replacement (wider & better flowing) exhaust that can be installed by itself.

A turbo back replaces the downpipe that is attached between the turbo and the cat back portion of the exhaust.
When changing the downpipe you change the flow of gases exiting the turbo so it is recommended to get a retune done to the ECU, you will gain more power/torque from doing so but the cost of a tune is a fair bit to some people.

Tuners can be found in the Perth Workshops thread.

This picture should help to visualise the differences between the two.

As for detailing, Adam from OCDetailing did my car a couple years back and I'm glad he did!
Slap Dash and DukeDrifter like this.

get a ultrex turbo back with oval muffler, then go to AS for a tune to get most out of it. if your budget is a few grand, it will be worth it

ADZ from OCD is the best, you have to wait and he charges appropriately... but you get what you pay for!

Thanks fellas.

So what would prices be for the turbo back, tune and a roughy on the detailing?
Does he repair scratches and also get swirly scratches out of the paintwork?

Google OCD detailing he has a site, pretty sure there was a paint reconditioning option.

Exhaust probably somewhere from 600 upto and over 2k depending on brand and what it's made of.

Not sure tune wise someone else will be able to chime in

Roughly for a tune it'll be around the $1k mark give or take.

Like everybody else has said OCDetailing would be your pick. He's also a member on here and I'm sure he'll pop by this thread.
