If you are planning on going down the ecutek path, don't worry about it - it's still the factory ecu - only the map has changed, not the ecu itself.
On my old car I did have my Autronic ECU listed on my policy with RAC - no problems back then.

There is your problem!!! You are not putting you ECU in for performance enhancements! You are putting it in due to the updated ECU having better Fuel economy over standard with a slight power variation! Its all in the way you say it mate If you increase your power by I think it was 30kw with RAC they gong your policy, so you can get it done, don't worry about that. |

Just list the ECU as a accessory

I have my ECU covered on HBF, you have to prove that the ECU is just a replacement for the factory ECU that was damaged or something. Once I did that they covered 100% of my mods.

Glad someone asked this question, I have been to worried to tell my insurer about my mods. If something happens just hope they don't notice. What about exhaust though is that counted as perfomance enhancing?

I suggest you read your policy - it's normally pretty clear about mods - i.e. any mod to be disclosed to insurer.

im with rac and they are fine with mods, i even told them im planing on modding the car and they just said to call them and let them know and they add it to the policy and send you a bill for like $30 or something. try getting a policy then telling them about the mod after a week or so. you have like 1 month or something to pay anyway. might work
