Thanks for info so far. Def not going to be sourcing own parts or doing any work ourselves. Keep hearing about Norm Butler, does he work from a performance shop? Why is his exhausts better than others?

Butler Built exhausts are top quality but as a result are more expensive than others. I was quoted $1995 for a custom designed exhaust for my 06 WRX just to give you an idea on costs. I sourced my own cat back exhaust from Wolf Racing Products and had it fitted for under $100. Will do the same when I buy the down pipe. I highly recommend them (they are a vendor on here too) Free shipping and great prices, plus if they don't have the product you want he (Rhys) will try to get for you.

I own a Liberty GT-B (wagon) MY08 and have a Butler exhaust on it. It is quite loud, may not be everyone's cup of tea. Other mods on mine are King -25mm springs on the original Bilstein shocks. That may not be a viable option on yours if it's not a spec 'B' ? If yours is only a GT spec, I have a spare set of Bilsteins I could sell you to upgrade it. Mine also has STi Brembo brake upgrade, STi strut brace, STi front lip, EcuTek tune, Prodrive wheels. I can't remember the exact dyno number but I recall it ran a low 13 second 1/4 years ago when I first did it. |

dtrally thanks a bunch for your info. I'm really interested to know what you thought of the power upgrade. I think I will be going down a similar path. I can't afford suspension/brake mods just yet and the lack of power really irks me.

My motivation for the retune was to sharpen the electronic throttle response. The delay shit me no end. The brakes was purely to look the goods, I have no intention of ever racing this wagon and the stock brakes were more than adequate.
The power increase was adequate. I have no need for bigger turbo/intercooler/injectors or anything like that on this car. I enjoy that it's 100% usable and reliable. Still goes really well, looks good, sounds good. |

About how much of an increase did you feel? Any idea of percentage and was it really noticeable/worthwhile? |

2008 liberty GT Spec B
Top graph is new billet TD05-18G turbo, TMIC and associated minor mods & tune. Lower graph is original VF4x series turbo and Subaru tune (thin line) and same turbo retuned (thick line). All of the above tunes have high quality 3" dump pipe ceramic coated onto OEM cat back. Add approx 5% on figures above assuming full 3" turbo back. Best mods are suspension first. Sways, decent springs. Strut bar top n lower control arm. Learn to drive it with some power. Short shifter makes things easier. Then start on the "how long is a piece of string" power quest ... The above runs 13.7 but I'm sure if Dougie was driving (he launches cars better) it be <13.5 seconds on the 1/4.

I would describe the difference as the jolt you feel between (I) mode to (S) mode to (S#) mode then one more on top. In other words, I mode stayed the same, S and S# both took a step up. So, yes. noticeable. |

Hi guys, just wondering if someone can tell me whether or not I-drive is still fully functional after a tune & also will I need a tune if I only put a cat back system on?
Car in question is a 2007 STI Liberty. Cheers! |
