I have a V2 STI motor so say 18psi...

I would like to get about 200kw at the wheels, my injectors may stop this, I have 440cc STI injectors..

Running a FMIC and a VF29 also, turbo is good down low but lacks mid and topend punch..

cheers

yep will need a fuel system upgrade.

200kw atw you will get, turbo will deffo give better mid and topend, maybe a bit soft down low when you snap the throttle open but keep it on boost/part throttle often and It shouldnt be too bad.*

I think where the bigger turbo's work better than the VF's is that they can make more power with less boost which is better for the longlivity of various engine and turbo components, the trade off is softer throttle response?

*disclaimer, I have never driven a 400s fitted car or spoke to anyone "directly" that has..This is all what I have sumised from various info sources.

I've decided to go for the GTPS01, got a good deal from Abdus at Tenagah, I could not justify the high price of the AVO and APS turbos, I have no doubt they are probably good, but not $1300.00 better.

Will post up some results when it's all done..

Thanks for the input everyone.

Cheers

my old car was basically the same as freds 05 sti with same mods and same power with the 35 hooked up.. 195kwatw..

then tried a gtps01 with mixed results.. need really high boost levels(24psi) to reach optimum operating range and this just pulled heaps of timing out.. 207kwatw..

then tried a 'rally proven' vf30 with internal/external ceramic coating and porting on several decent tuners advice and it made 200kwatw at only 18psi.. timing was fairly advanced and was probably the quickest to drive on the street and got a few more km's per tank.. the overall cost of the 30 with the ceramic coating was the same as the gtps01..

not trying to be a guru, just what experience i had with a few turbos..

now i have got rid of the rice burner and have a bf xr6 turbo ute that has 211kwatw and 420nm stock

different horses etc..

Interesting, I ran a VF30 for years and have now done about 8000kms with a GTPS01, back to back.

The GTPS01 comes on a bit earlier and is more linear, but doesnt hit as hard as the VF30, am fitting a FMIC soon and going for a re-tune to see some results are forthcoming...

didnt know they were even selling them in the US, there is already so many TD variation turbo's over there...

I'm sure they are pretty good, just not what they were marketed as to a degree, were aimed at having the spool of a 34 with more top end than a 22.

207kwatw (DD dyno too I think) is nothing to sneeze at in an 05 sti with FMIC and ecu..
