Default Security of your ride

So in a couple of months I'll be moving from an apartment where my STi is secured underground to a house in Vic park where it will be clearly visible from the street. Apart from getting a car cover and making sure the keypad is active, are there any other precautions I should take ? Car is insured obv

Dont leave the goddamn keys on the kitchen bench when the car is parked. Find a hiding spot for them.

Install some decent CCTV and aim a camera at the car if you are that worried.
Not much will stop anyone taking it if they really want it, not matter how many alarms it has, but at least you have something to give to the cops.

Cars even get stolen from where you have it currently like that 32gtr recently. Wish they had a camera aimed on it though. I have my car/driveway covered 24/7.

My car is visible from the street too. I just lock it when I go inside.

Douchebaggery aside I have actually had my center caps stolen while my car is in my driveway and now have lock nuts on my wheels just in case but I don't suppose there is that much you can do. Make sure alarm is active etc and a car cover might not be a bad idea either.

Don't leave keys laying around in easy to reach places in your house, though I think I would rather have an intruder find my keys and peacefully leave rather than face a confrontation. It's all a very slim chance anyway I would think.

Also make sure you change your insurance policy, if you have it insured as being in secured parking then you will have issues if it's stolen from an accessible driveway.

Motion sensor spot light is not a bad idea if the house is close enough to the street. Bunnings have one that plugs into a standard light socket with twin light globes. Also the usual stuff, remove the stereo face if possible and don't leave anything valuable inside.

Simon - Vic park is ok just don't be one of them fools that rip out their brant as soon as there's an issue and you'll be fine!

Also the common sense stuff as suggested above about keys and all.

Im in Vic Park, will keep an eye out for you on the roads

Thanks guys. I never leave anything in the car and no keys will ever be in the house if I'm out. CCTV will be something I'll look into. Ideally something pointed at the car and only starts recording when it senses motion.

After a while a car cover will get annoying to put on and off, esp when/if the car is wet from raining etc. If you do get one however, don't cheap out as my super cheap auto brand cover went brittle after a few weeks so I don't use it anymore.

I suggest motion recording security, good car alarm, wheel lock nuts, even motion spotlight will be a good deterent.

If you love your car more then your life, by all means hide your keys. It's a car and insured. Lock it up and go about your day. As stated, if they want to steal it they will. CCTV car covers sensor lights, none of that matters to a crook with one thing on their mind. These days CCTV is useless because most of them wear hoodies giving the cops nothing to go on.
