If I were you I would be trying to get hold of a vf52 as your 09 has the smaller turbo and you might not get the bang for buck you're chasing.

That package you've listed with a tune will be not be cheap.

I thought it 10 onwards, my bad move along.

If that's the case you will be smiling if your tuner knows what they are doing.

No worries. Bought this car instead of an 08 for that reason (got it second hand back in 2010). Modding now because its cheaper than buying something else and need mods to tide me over until there is something else worthwhile to buy (like new focus rs when it comes out).

Invider Q300 is the way to go. You will save around $ and easy DIY fit.
ASG to tune or DIY through rom raider

Is a cai of benefit in a 2009 wrx? Have read that the standard airbox is not that restrictive.

According to what I've found, the stock air box is not as restrictive as it has been on previous models and will be ample for the amount of power that you can make out of an unopened block.

My tuner asked me how much boost I want to run so I asked for his recommendation and he said 16psi but admitted his recommendation will always be conservative and he will run whatever I ask him to. So how much boost are people typically running with the setup I am looking at? (tbe and upgraded tmic)
