i know for a fact that rules regarding insuring modifiactions have changed recently. most companies accept most mods, aside from stereos over $3000 and performance mods other than exhaust, air induction, brakes and ecu's. However turbo vehicles are a comopletely different story. The good thing about Just Car is they insure all mods. There is another company (fairly new on the market) called BUDGET CAR INSURANCE. havent called em yet, mite be worth giving them a go tho.

I've changed my insurance to Shannons just last month after 8yrs with RAC as RAC refused me insurance based on my 'mods'.
RAC had my CRX from 11K down to 9500 within 2yrs. I had the kit fitted and car resprayed. Intake, extractors, basic suspension mods with shocks and springs, swaybar, 17inch mags and a bit in stereo department. I also wanted to increase the value of the car to 14K based on the mods and what my opinion of the value of the car is 'agreed value'. Shanons picked the insurance from there to the value of 15k after viewing the car with ALL the mods listed in the policy - no dramas. Quote:
i called them up for a quote, maximum value they would insure my gen2 crx was $9000 regardless of the mods and wanted almost $800 for it. It didn't matter what I had on the car their market value was $9000 and said thats all - how they insure others with mods i have no idea. I also enquired about my gen1 crx whci his garaged 364 days a year and max they would do it for was $2000 and more than my gen2 cost - over $800! |

$15000 car value for under 1K I think and GENONE (83 CRX) $6500 value for $400odd = $1300 something for two cars.
Its also depends on the age with Shanons - im 28 with 65% NCB. We called up for cover on my gfs 95 CRX for $13000 and it was over $1200 - she's 25. |

i think that once a customer reaches the age of 26, they are entitled to reduced premiums and excess's. Thats prolly y i was quoted $3000, i am only 23

All I can say is get NO CALIM BONUS PROTECT! It saved me when I ran The STi against a kerb, resulting in a $3500 claim.
BTW... 27, male, 60% NCB, 1 previous claim (last year), 02 STi - no mods as yet, HBF...$1250 / year. They didn't even blink when I put the last calim in.

insurance companies and their premiums are unpredictable... some pay less for more and others get ripped. no rules.
