Man the reason there is a back log because apparently they did some sort of new system install and people that work there are adjusting to it. Now this is what happened to me it wasnt as fast as what you were going but i have just recently got a speeding fine from 5 months ago.

My friend got done 140 in a 70 zone. No letter came, instead the cops came around.

I heard the multinovas are using GPRS now ? So radar detectors are useless ? Don't quote me on that one

edit : Anyone using the Bel RX75 or Bel STI ?

Classic.

GPRS is how Jamster sends you ringtones, not how the police will measure your speed.

If you meant GPS, well that would require a transponder in every car. Also the accuracy and reliability of it would be very dubious.

No they are not using GPRS.
However police are trialing a new speed camera with Optical Character Recognition (OCR). It is being tested as a way of being able to distinguish more than two cars in the photo. They can't prosecute a Multanova fine if there are two cars in the picture, so this is a system to try and squeeze that little bit more out of the revenue stream.

There are two cameras which measure the time it takes each vehicle to travel a certain distance. Apparently it doesn't use radar at all, but still relies on a photograph (for offending cars) with a flash.

Bel RX75 - don't bother buying as there is a new remote mounting detector coming out from Bel in a month that has "Ka-narrow" (which basically means it will detect Multanova with greater range than the RX65, V995, etc)

The STi similarly, doesn't have Ka-narrow and therefore doesn't perform well against the Multanova.

For optimum performance against Multanovas, the Bel 990i DID have Ka narrow, but is no longer produced. None of the so called "tuned for AU/NZ" detectors Bel are currently touting as "the best" have Ka narrow, therefore perform poorly against the Multanova when compared to the Valentine One, Euro 550, Euro 330, 990i, 966r, 975r and even the Escort X50 (which doesn't have Ka narrow either)

All these Bel detectors (RX65 etc) were made for the North American market and USA radars, especially the USA Ka-band radars. Here in Aus the only radars that use Ka are the multanova in WA (34.3GHz) and the Genosis Select II in Queensland (35.1GHz). All the other Ka frequencies (35.5, 34.7, 33.8) are NOT used in Aus and therefore are not needed in an Aus deetctor. The detectors with Ka-narrow can switch off these unused frequencies and concentrate on the ones that are used here, thus providing a greater warning against them.

The new remote mounted detector (like RX75) out in a month or so will ve the best detector for WA from Bel yet.

Jez, make sure you keep us all upto date on the latest detector releases, sounds like we need the latest remote narrow Ka band with GPS anti falsing built in and we would be laughing...
