Great, That'd be my type of deal. $800 drive in, rumble out. Testimonials suggest the system sounds and looks ok.

Thats a grand cheaper than RMS, but obviously without the split system...how much more would one gain from the reduced turbulence? is it worth $1000?

I certainly dont beleive its worth the extra $1K....

You could always buy the splitter dump afterwards. I have seen them go for around $600 to $700 new. But it will only give you at most a 10kw gain and only if your already running big boost where a bell mouth design would cause more than negliable turbulence.

EDIT: WOOT! 400 Posts!!! I have been spending way too much time on here.

It will still run without getting tuned, but it will just be a little sluggish, as the ECU will default back to limp mode on low boost and retarded ignition timings. Its not harmful to your car to leave it on limp mode for a few weeks while you wait for a re-tune AFAIK.

Anyway, you could always buy the TBE system and then leave it off the car until you have time to get it tuned. that way you can just take the TBE right into the workshop and have it fitted and tuned all at once.

I might be interested, now i just have to convince my wife that this is a must since not putting one of these on will damage the car hehehe

I have a MY00, i know you've anwsered the ECU question for the MY06 but will the MY00 require a re-tune as it will default back to limp mode or should i be sweet without re-tuning it? If we all have to retune it, perhaps a group verso retune at speedworks??

Yeah... The older GC8 and earlier ECUs were much more tolerant of modifications you did to the engine and didnt go straight into limp mode at the blink of an eye.

GC8 ECUs actually needed a real fault to go into limp mode. Much better than the newer GD+ ECUs that crack a spaz at the first sign of mods.
