If the catch can is going to return to the sump, surely it doesnt need to be very big. 500ml or so?

I think its 2L for a up to 2000cc car and 3L for over for CAMS. And you're right, its quite large and could carry most of the sump. Thats the idea, so that it doesnt fill like mine and burst out everywhere. I have an AVO baffled catch can with a ~700mm capacity and i filled it passed full within 3 laps of the long track, twice. I think the plumbing might also have something to do with it, you need a vacuum to pull the air/oil vapour out of the crank/heads but I think on full noise mine is sucking the oil out too.

At this stage I'm looking at getting one of the prove/grimmspeed/sgs oil/air sperator oil caps and maybe plumbing it in after the catch can to catch the over flow. But I'm doing reading into it as what we have was basically slapped together quickly and I don't fully understand how the whole thing needs to work. All I know is, I can't do Barbs again until this is fixed or I will lose a motor

Clearly sucking oil Matthew. My catch can has bugger all in it after Saturday...3 sets of 3-4 long track laps.
Lyall had a similar problem to yours and has since solved it. Maybe have a chat with him.

Duh, didn't think of Ivan. Was actually planning on going to LF seeing as they run the IP cars at wanners.

Matt- send me PM if you want further info... had similar problem a while back. Solved by splitting system- one does crank case, the other heads etc. All plumb back- pretty straight forward too.

I would be interested in a schematic of this too.
