I like your thinking with the ~300hp. Too much power in the wrong applications is wasted.
I can see you like your 'technical driving' and not so much a big open track where you just plant it down the straight, but instead more smaller, quicker, car-setup orientated stuff, like the hillclimb you mentioned. I'd like to do a similar thing too (when i get some moniez).

Good luck with it all. Shame the car is out of action!!
Thanks. The goal has always been light weight and reliable power, and the car was always pretty reliable apart from the fact that I had the catch can hoses plummed wrong and would shit lots of oil. But thats not the cars fault, its my lack of knowledge and no one else being able to answer the question for me. I think I proved the combo by going 3rd outright at the Mt Clarence HillClimb

At this stage, before pulling it apart, it looks to be something that we couldn't have predicted ruining the motor. Myself and Tuna had been playing with it lately and had wound the boost up to around 1.7 bar. Being the cheapskate that I am, I was still trying to pull that boost through the stock plastic inlet pipes and a dirty old K&N that protorob found on his garage floor. We think this has caused the turbo to work a little too hard and let oil passed the seals. This along with the constant lose of oil over the last 12 months, and my luck finally ran out. Its a pity really, because I was prepping the car for the Twilight Sprint series, and had just forked out some big dollars on a new helmet, pair of Nicky Grist Motorsport 6 point FIA harnesses and some Cusco engine mounts. That little lot was half a 207....

The good news is, she was making approximately 310hp through a top mount and stock inlet before she died.

I'd still chop you.

It's horrible to hear about the car but sounds like you have a lot of plans a head of you to keep you moving forward. It's good to hear.

WOW!

That is epic!

Did the breather/ catch can changes make any significant difference before it dokked?

Looking forward to seeing her resurrected buddy.

Having read further, 207 short, std heads/cams, twin scroll... -> Thrash.

Every support mod geared to mid-range/response... win. Not a lot of outlay, for known results. Back in the car in time for this Twilight thing.

Brent.

Sad to hear Matthew....I fully understand your frustration and some time out is an excellent idea. I'm sure that time will serve to restore your enthusiasm and we will see the white GX out on the track again sooner rather than later. I guess the upside is that it isn't your daily driver....therein lies the beauty of a dedicated track car...if it breaks, just park it up for a while until $/enthusiasm return.
I'm sure you'll come up with a solid plan for it...good luck.

PS I wouldn't be selling anything off in a hurry...
