Depends on your budget bs timeframe etc. Only has to be as expensive as you make it. If you are not keeping this motor long term, why put in a head stud kit? Stock head gaskets and re-use old head bolts perhaps? Not ideal but gets it going. Food for thought anyway.

I ripped the old studs out and didn't take note where they came from, I would have preferred to put them back in the same spots. I dunno, its very tempting to have the thing running next week, but I also don't want to be spending money twice. The difference is I have no real time frame in place for getting this running.

Grabbed a spare set of EJ257B W25 casting heads from Sam (MeanRS) last week to compare to my heads. They are 08+ STI dual AVCS heads so I was interested to see what the ports were like and if the cams would fit.

Compared to my Z20 EJ20Y heads. My ports look a little bit bigger and when I had them side by side, the castings were actually quite different.

popped a cam out and it physically fits in my head. Another interesting find was that the EJ257B cam is hollow but the EJ20Y cam was solid

Move forward to this week, one of the things that has always annoyed me was that I purchased a dished OMP wheel but the bosskit was too big, and the wheel either sat too close to my chest when the pedals were in the right spot, or if i moved the seat back to get the wheel in the right spot the pedals were too far away. I grabbed an NRG short boss kit from the ebayz and it came in yesterday.

My OMP wheel and boss kit compared to a MY98 Nardi. Not a completely accurate comparison on the curved roof of the car, but you get the idea.

Bolted on the NRG short boss. Hrmm.

I think I might look at getting a space made up to bring it forward a bit more.

Oh and everything is just sort of balanced in place here, but I think you might enjoy this little bit of automotive porn. Because racecar.

Yes I know I have the coolest keyring in the world
