Default Hi everybody, new STI owner!

Hi everyone,

My name is Oliver and I just picked up a black 05 STI WRX for myself so looking for a new car club!

Hope to meet you all on a cruise some day in the near future. I'll post some pics of the new beast once I get round to taking some.

Cheers.

Had a mildly modified CA18DET converted Nissan EXA before this car and decided to upgrade a little, though that thing was quite an animal (T25g @ 15 PSI in a FWD car is fun!).

Hey mate! Welcome to PerthWRX. You must be strong! How did you pick up a 05 STi?

Subaru > Nissan. I one day too thought CA's, SR's and RB's were good when I've owned S13's and R32. Ba Bow! Wait til you get ya STi goin! You won't look back.

Remember there's a search button, try before you posting anything you think may have been covered.

Enjoy your stay.

Jason.

Welcome aboard Oliver. great pick-up with the 05 STi and several owners here with the same car, albeit heavily modded now. Search button is your friend and enjoy the ride. Post pics of the peanut when you get a chance.

Yeah CA18s are good fun but you can't compare a 19 year old car to one that's 3 years old. The STI is great fun, the 2L can be a bit laggy down low but once the revs get up it flys. Kinda good in a way cause you can drive it 'normally' (unlike the EXA which started building boost at about 2000rpm and full by 3.5) and still have heaps on tap if needed. I had a few cars in mind but one drive in the STI and I was hooked on that awsome boxer growl and nice accleration.

I'll find some photos of them both after work and post them up. The exa is up for sale for real cheap if anyone knows anyone who might be interested in a very quick, cheap and unique car. All finished and regoed just needs some permits for insurance and to avoid the yellows.

Welcome Oliver!

I agree with you RE: laginess of EJ207 when stock. I had an SR20DET 180SX with GT25 BB turbo which spooled almost instantly. You get used to the STi though I reckon.

Yeah those little T25 sized turbos are nice and quick, run out of puff quickly but.

I will need to work on dropping that lag a little. How strong are the EJ engines? How much boost could you run with a good tune and proper cooling without needing to do any internal work? What are the stock turbos capable of doing?
