Thumbs up Hello world!

Hey Everyone,

I'm Karl, Just purchased My01 STI on Tuesday, and LOVE IT! It's basically stock atm just got a Turbosmart BOV, 4'' Xforce turbo back exhaust, and a turbo timer............That's all the performance mods, then on the interior it has some fancy DVD player that I can't get to play anything with sound cause the Amp for the speakers isn't getting any power I've checked the fuses and wiring to the battery and found no issues, so unless someone on here has anything else i can check?? I think the first thing I'll have to purchase is a new amp!

Other than that, I'm a 19y/o student studying mechanical engineering, I am however fairly new to turbo'd cars so will be constantly asking questions and seeking advice on what to do next I hope i've come to the right place

Welcome mate!

In regards to the amp/DVD player, is it a 7 inch touchscreen one? or??

Check all fuses on the amp, inline fuses, check the ground and positive connections as well as the remote (comes from the headunit to turn the amp on when power is at the headunit, usually is a blue cable) Also be sure to check the RCA cables and see if they are connected properly.

feel free to PM if you need more info

If all else fails, take it to JBHIFI and see if they can diagnose it

best of luck, and welcome to the forums again

Brett

Yeah It's an Eclipse AVX5000 7" dvd player, yeah it's touchscreen and then its wired to a 100W 4Channel amp bolted down under the passenger seat, so it's pretty awkward to get to The other problem is the car didn't come with a user manual or remote so i've just been playing around with the head unit.

Going to go take it to a friend to have a look at now as he's pretty nifty with sound systems, if all else fails JB Hi Fi it is!!!!!! I'll Let you know if we get it going

No offense but why would you let the 18 year old drug addicts that work at JB HiFi work on your in-car stereo. Go to West-side Sound or Alberts or somebody who actually has half a clue about it and some professionalism.

Welcome Karl, you should come down to the Motorplex tonight, a lot of the well-known Subaru folk will be there.

Welcome!

First thing to do after you fix the stereo... get rid of the BOV and Turbo timer.. they are wanky and do f*ck all for performance... they just ruin your car.

Plenty of other 01-02 STI drivers on here... best to trawl through their driveway threads and see what mods they have done. :-)

Cheers Guys,

Sorry can't come tonight have paintball league haha, And yeah i've heard that from a few people about the blowoff valve, The sounds still a novelty for me though so I'll leave that'll be around for a few weeks yet :P

My Parents already want the turbo timer gone, I can't really sneak home late at night anymore with it sitting in the driveway idling for 1 minute after i've pulled the key
