Default I'm not lying, the Rex belongs to my wife...

Hi guys! First of please don't flame me as I don't own a Rex but the wife needs a new car and a bit of dak dak is looking to join the garage. I've been trying to do some research on the Rex and found the forum so thought I might as well join up and ask the experts!

So first off its gonna be her daily and she does like a bit of juice under the bonnet. I got her a Lexus ES 300 after her Toyota Chaser got written off in the 2010 hailstorm and she has been giving me grief ever since! "It's comfortable but slow", "I don't like front wheel drive", "It's got no grunt"...

So which Rex to buy? I'm personally biased towards the 04 STI I think (that's the one with the super bird eater scoop rite) and do not like the look of the current batch as I find they look a bit soft. The older Rex's just looked tougher. So are there any models I should steer away from because of any issues and are there some models which are just better.

There might also be a distinct possibility that I'll take the Rex to Barbs on track days when I want a bit of a change from my baby (turbocharged 350Z) so track capability is something to consider.

Thanks in advance for the help!

05 STi is what you want. Last of the 2 litre engines, 6 speed, DCCD.

we have no life....

05 STI as mentioned is the last of the 2L, 06/7 WRX's or STI's had the 2.5L

03/4/5 STI's all look the same, but only the 05 comes with the DCCD and newer stud pattern (114.3x5 as opposed to 100x5)

I stand corrected. Saying that what do I know, I'm a Nissan boy, might be lured to the dark side though, evil AWD...
