No. They said they would look at taking it on. But am I willing to bear the expense as it could lead into thousands just get it to run. And then what about the trans, diffs, and motor self. So that is why it was discussed and feasibility was not viable. So one of three options. Battle it out myself, manual conversion or track car.

the latter not an option.

if it had different sized wheels on it chances are the diffs/trans are stuffed too

did you buy it untested from an auctions or something? hope you didn't pay much more than a grand for it

cut your losses and start again imo. sounds like a massive headache. MY98's were a bastard year for wiring and mechanicals too

Give Al at AM Auto's a yell, he's pretty much a guru on WRX looms and may have one laying around or be able to help you out with the correct diagrams, I've still got most of my old auto Liberty harness which would possibly have the right plugs etc but I'm living in Thailand so can't really help you out.

Best of luck with the project.

If you want to avoid a clutch... Maybe invest in a sequential 6 speed? Mrs should love it

Might be worth saving if the body and interior are good, first thing I'd do is remove the dash so you have better access to everything.

There is a retired auto sparky who did the STI wiring into my 98 Liberty who's pretty good too, name is Jim and you might be able to get his number from MMS as he did a lot of work for them in the past.

He used to frequent this site quite a lot too but I haven't seen him for a couple of years.

Cheers guys. Will try get hold of the people.
It looks like it is going to be a project seen through with a manual conversion.
Missus insists as over 2k is not a chump change. even if we sell it after it is all sorted. So... Lets see what goes. Will keep up to date as it goes but will only start it late next month.

Do yourself a favour. Add up how much it is likely to cost to fix it all before you stat, and then double it. Gc8s are selling frequently around the $8k mark so it may or may not be viable to fix it.
How bad is the body?
What is the interior like?

Last thing I would want to do is spend $10k+ fixing a car worth $8k.

Ok. First stupid question... LOL

What is this. And if it is the ECU. Does anyone know the version or know anyone having the same one laying around for sale?
