Yes! My first positive contribution . woot!
You dont have a lemon, you have your very first project car. I can guarantee no one will laugh at you at Evo r or Stechnic. They will only be concerned with investigating your concerns and advising you of the best solution. Particularly if you have shown some initiative as mentioned previously. |

+1 for S-Technic. Don't be alarmed when they have a list of things they are not that impressed with. After all, you are paying them for their professional opinion.

I don't think anyone on here who's had an extended period of subi ownership can honestly say they have never made a "bad" decision and suffered some sort of financial loss as a result. Its all part of the learning curve. As others have said, keep a cool head, don't make any rash decisions until a reputable workshop has fully checked it out (keep trying Stechnic even if their lines are busy) . post back here with the results

At the moment, just my local mechanic as he is also servicing my other ride... (a reliable honda).... So far, he's looking at it and he thinks I need a new clutch..... (shudders on take off, he's hoping it's just some oil in the something or rather) ..... i'll keep you guys posted.... My heart is pounding...... LOL

You went against everybody's advice and didn't go to a subi professional. Won't be surprised to see this costing more than it should.
Sorry but truth hurts. |

So in a nutshell from his viewpoint (he's the mechanic, albeit not a subi specialist). The car is OK. It is definitely misfiring (not constantly) and he suggested that some new plugs, leads and possibly a coilpack would do the trick. There was a bit of cold start issues (as per my first couple of threads), he cleaned one of the sensors out (as it was coated in oil and gunk) and that seems to fix it for now. In regards to the clutch shuddering upon take off, he did say, that it was most probably on it's way out and suggested that it would need replacing (albeit not anytime soon). Brakes, tyres and general driveline of the car is in an excellent condition. I believed he did a scan tool on the car and it didn't pick up any faults. He summed it up with - you didn't really buy a lemon, it's just showing a little bit of it's age. Now, I will make contact with one of the specialist and go from there. Thanks again guys. Appreciate all the advise and help. Now I can learn to enjoy it a bit more and more. |

Is the clutch shudder when the cars cold? mine usually shudders the first few shifts then it's fine, i.e. it's not persistent.
Sometimes it's the basics that cause the big fuss. lucky nothing major (touch wood)!
