SS10 - John Forrest Reverse

Car 57 - Todd and Darren Payne have gone off the road 3km's into John Forrest Reverse in their 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX Sti.
Reports are that the crew are ok. The stage was subsequently cancelled and remaining cars were directed straight to the next service park at Ascot and will receive a derived time for that stage.

I was standing less than 10 metres from where that car ended up, luckily behind something just as solid. Co-Driver only had some belt lash, mainly in the '6 point' area! Driver was unconsious immediately after and bleeding from the nose. I had a rally two way radio with me and immediately called for emergency response. Doctors were there in minutes. I also had an extinguisher on hand as the car was smoking from the engine bay. Once they extracted the driver he seemed to be ok, one foot was swollen, possibly broken from the pedals and he was pretty groggy. We had a camera rolling on the whole accident, it should make it to the DVD or at least the after-party tape!

An unrelated road accident today blocked Julimar road and caused some stages to be cancelled or downgraded. Unfortunate but unavoidable, the organisers did a decent job of salvaging the remaining daylight as best they could.
