White bug-eye was the only big hit but there were definitely a few touching up the concrete.

Couple of vids from our car:

GoPro Black (1080p 30fps Protune: On)

GoPro Silver (720p 30fps Protune: Off)

Could be using the non-waterproof back cover that comes with the new gopro's.

What camera are you using and what settings? (resolution, FPS etc)

The Silver camera was mounted in the standard GoPro water proof enclosure. Didn't try the skeletal back door because I was concerned about the intercooler spray. I think because the camera is mounted in front of the intercooler there's not so much air rushing past. Earlier I mounted the Silver camera on the right rear passenger window but the wind noise spoils the fun. I'll use an external mic if I do that again.

We did have a couple of hiccups earlier in the night when I enabled "Protune". For some reason the camera would stop recording about 5 seconds in. Turned off Protune and all was good again. The Silver still hasn't had the firmware upgrade loaded yet which should hopefully sort out those quirks.

The Black GoPro camera (with latest firmware) performed flawlessly. I used the optional 'Frame' mount for the in-car footage in conjunction with an adjustable roll cage mount I already had. There's still a bit of rattling or squeaking somewhere in the mount or frame that I want to sort out but I can always use an external mic too.

The Black definitely has an edge over the Silver in low light situations, especially with Protune turned on. Protune can introduce noise into the image in the dark sections but I prefer some detail (with noise) rather than no detail and pitch black.

I'll post up an in-car video later from a night run using the Black.

Liam and his co-driver/girlfriend Ashley were in the white bugeye WRX that went into the concrete barrier. They're not on the forums but do occasional motorsport events.

From a physical standpoint, Liam feels absolutely fine.
X-rays for Ash this morning revealed a fractured sternum, but apparently it just feels a little sore. Otherwise she is ok.

They both agree on an estimated impact speed of around 60km/h – enough to push the barrier a good 4 meters out of place (see attached pic). Airbags deployed obviously, but neither of their heads hit them.

I'm gutted for Liam – he's such a nice guy and was looking forward to doing more motorsport and improving the car
The best way to look at it is that despite a pretty decent knock they are ok!

^^ Always sad to hear of such incidents, but at least there were no serious injuries.
How did you go Alex?
