Depends if Ramon's SDL is the logging version or not. If it isn't they can be upgraded to add 8mb of logging at up to 500samples/sec.

With motec you always pay Tino, but some of their gear really is highly capable.

Tino, you have to ask yourself if you really care about logging or not. If your not going to be racing the car then I would assume that it's not really of any use to you. In terms of capacity, with the motec being based on CAN inputs, and assuming that your using all of the available bandwidth, then each second of logging takes 1MBit (and this is a LOT of information). So 8Mb would last for 64 seconds (8 bits in a byte, 8Mb), bear in mind this is a minimum, you would likely find that 8Mb of useful information could cover about 30 minutes or more.

Ramon, you don't happen to have a spare M800/ADL3 that you would also like to get rid of?

8 minutes of logging is decent. Unless you were doing endurance laps its ample.

Brad i do want to do racing in some form or another i.e collie waneroo and the like so i think logging would be useful. I would want to do say 2-3 laps on the go so would like to have that logged also. So if the motec wouldnt max out memory by then this wouldnt be as useful function??

Is there a program that comes with the sdl that you can put the log files onto?? Or is it a pay per view thing??

The ADL3 has 16 mb but can be uprgaded to 250 mb.

Tino, the SDL logging can be downloaded into i2 (motec's software) that is free to use (http://www.motec.com.au/i2/i2overview/). All motec gear (Mxxx, SDL, ADL etc) all use the same format, so they can all be opened in this software. Chances are that you can log what you need to in the ECU itself; though having one of those dash's is pretty cool. The dashes really come into their own when you want to start logging what the suspension is doing where high logging rates are an absolute necessity.

Is data logging useful to you? For sure, if you know what you are looking at and have the ability to make changes based on that information then how can it be a bad thing?

You just have to get the logging option turned on on the dash, then it is "free" to use after that.

If you want to get into racing can I suggest that you very seriously consider some sort of cage type arrangement for your car as it is quite capable of producing some very serious speeds in some very short distances.
