Default Car cutting out 4th gear roll on

Hi all , wondering if anyone can help me?

I have a my 98 wrx . Car is stock.

Last night while driving down mandurah i was in 4th gear doing 90 and speed limit increase to 110 so i put foot down pretty hard to get up to speed limit then overtake a car and my wrx cuts out forabout a second then keeps going.

I tryed various things like rolling it on in 1st, 2nd, 3rd nothing only rolling it on hard in 4th.

Scares shit out me while its accelerating nice without any notice cuts out for a second causing car to jolt

Any help much appreciated

MArc

yeah, sound like boost cut. Nice cool nights can cause boost spikes and if the spike is high enough, you hit the boost cut.

Its like hitting and imaginary brick wall.

Thats a good discription acually scares ya especially when you relaxed then put foot down then it jolts.

Just went for a drive then and it did the same again. Weather is warmish at the moment.

I dont have boost controller or aftermarket ecu that i know of.

haha check it... cars will run higher boost in higher gear so 1-3rd gears might not have enuf boost in them to make the ecu cut... however looks like 4th does.. do u have a gauge at all?

Get your boost solenoid checked to make sure its all working correctly and the car isnt over boosting. Maybe check the vacume line to your turbo too incase the waste gate isnt opening.

installing a boost gauge will let you know if if thats the case, i wouldnt drive it too hard until you get it sorted.
