Default Unichip to VERSO - advice needed.

Hey All,

A little advice is required. I currently have a UniChip D15 running on the 02 STi and I'm thinking about pulling it out and re-flashing the standard ecu with VERSO.

What I want to know is:
1. Is it really worth me doing this (Unichip to VERSO)?

2. Will I will gain much from it?

The reason I'm considering doing it is all the info I read about Unichip being an inteceptor unit. Even though it tricks the standard ecu, the standard ecu can still get around it and alter ignition timing, etc. This alters the power output and in turn the driveability of the car as well.

I have also heard people saying it wipes out much resolution from the standard ecu...what does this mean?

Mods: 3" TBE and Filter

I understand its my choice in the end and all...I'm just chasing some advice really.

Many thanks for the input guys and girls!

Cheers,

Simon

For a TBE & filter - i wouldn't bother either - save up your dosh & get a SM4 (or M800) for later on in your mod path.

+1

If thats all you got modded, then dont bother.

If you intend on doing futher mods like turbos, FMIC, injectors, etc... then a new standalone ECU would be the best option.

Its just that the Unichip seems to be a little unstable somtimes. Like after I installed the Stealth FX, there was a noticable drop in power, like the computer was confused or something. Then a couple of days later is sort of went back to normal. Though it still feels like the ecu is retarding the ignition timing and I'm loosing a little power.

I was hoping by going to a VERSO tune this would be solved..?

Have you asked Sean about this? I would be interested to see what he has to say about this.

Power: 227kw at the engine - this is what Tim Slako got on a Bosch Dyno for me...at the wheels I guess 180 - 185ish. Sean reckons he will be able to get approx 200 kw/atw.

I asked him yesterday when I talked to him about the reflash and booking the car in...He said it will solve the issue with the BOV, as it would run a lot more stable. Meaning I could adjust the BOV and not have the ecu go into limp mode.

He also said the car would run well all the time...not just some days, like with the UniChip. Sean reckons that the stock ecu is retarding the ignition timing, even though the UniChip is telling it not to, though he couldn't confirm this till he looked at it.

Mate, you read my mind! Thats sort of what I'm intending to do. I just wanted to gauge what the wider pulbic thought in relation to effectiveness and gains, etc.
