Also spacers are illegal on the road in WA (and most other states) unless fitted as original equipment by the manufacturer. Can't even be approved by an engineer.

Experienced this exact same problem last night. The springs on the coilovers were rubbing on the tyre. It's going into wheels world tommorrow for an alignments to see if that helps, and a bit of general playing around.
Will let you know how it goes.

Bakks - yes, but Wilkinson have said it'd be very very close trying this.
02-04 STI is 17x7.5 +53 with 5x100 PCD
05+ STI is 17x8 +50 with 5x114.3 PCD

Also if your coil overs are dual height adjustable then you can have a play with the settings and sort it out....

They are, but we've come to realise that no matter how high or low you go in adjusting the upper spring, the higher or lower you must go at the base to compensate for the hieght increase or decrease as it is all relative. Basically, you end up with the same problem, the tirewall just scrapes on the spring/strut rotating plate bit.

225 tyres are the problem arnt they?

pretty sure 215 is as wide as you can go without rubbing, though i've never had coilovers i had rubbing on the guards.

also sidewall flex sucked on the 225's
