Yes normally, but the my coilovers have top and bottom height adjust so the spring (whatever length) can always remain captive. All you need is a shorter spring at the same spring rate and t should be close.

I think....

Does anyone know the offset of the standard 05 Sti rim? +50 +45?

05 STi rim is 17x8 and +50 from memory.

I'm assuming the coilovers have a small keeper spring which should only be adjusted to keep the main spring captive on full extension. Putting a shorter main spring is not the best solution. Also not a good idea to run an 05/6/7 too low since you will ruin the handling...changes the roll centre too much.

I'm sure it's 17x7.5 but not sure on offset.

There's no 'helper' spring. It's not super low - I want the tyres 10-15mm from the guards.

Yes definitely 17 x 8.

Basically, if you shorten the spring, you shorten the travel = loss of some advantage of the coilover.

The top of guard to hub centre measurements should be about 330 - 335 mm rear and 350 - 355 mm front.

Adjustable camber tops adjusted for negative camber, camber bolts at the bottom adjusted for positive camber, should work fine?

Ok 17x8 then, I was pretty sure 17x7.5 as its written on the Subaru spec sheet but the general consensus is pretty solid... Does anyone know the offset?

Bakks - yes, but Wilkinson have said it'd be very very close trying this.
