Yep equal length headers are the go. Stace is right, as always.

Anyone can have the boxer burble, but that is just really an inefficient WRX exhaust system (ie. exhaust gas pulses colliding as opposed to being extracted).

Headers work best when you:
1. have decent mods,
2. them heat-wrapped, and
3. a re-tune.

Also if you do have a good 2.5 -3" TBE system with a dump pipe, you still get a great rorty note.

Cheers

The exhaust doesn't sound like it but I remember reading something a few years ago about the STi's going equal length. Is this the case on the 06's.

How much HP and how much extra noise would a good set make?????? Noise is not a good thing. I'm getting old.

proper equal length will give at least 30hp when you get around the 280-300 mark on stock headers.

equal length also quieten down the overall exhaust note significantly.

hmm, seems to be a bit 50/50 on the decision.

i'll look into it more i think. kinda like the idea of having a different note from the even pipes, and hopefuly quieter to. i'm a bit over that "LOOK AT ME, LOOK AT ME" noises that come from performance cars. i enjoy the power but much prefer the sleeper style of things.

thanks for the input guys, appreciated

Greg.

Wai I don't think you would notice an extra 30 hp in that missile you will be driving so you gotta ask yourself one thing.

DOES IT SOUND GOOD????

If the answer is yes then there was a pretty good point in getting them.

i have equal length hks headers and received +18hp with unichip, at the time of tune i had exhaust and thats all.
i had xforce equal length headers and they cracked(wern't wraped) and were un weldable.
my currant headers arnt wrapped as it voids wananty.
i am happy with the sound as it is still agressive but diffrent.
