Default Suspension Query

Good evening Perth-WRXians

Well, after a bit of discussion daddy and i have decided we are going to enter Dutton 2008, the car goes quick, stops quick but corners are its enemy...

I have told dad who is the financier for this endeavour that front and rear swaybars and coilovers are the way to go, however being the money behind the operation dads previous knowledge obviously has a massive part in this decision,

He has heard somewhere that its either one or the other, coilovers, or swaybars, however im saying that both is definately the way to go to make the car a formidable twistymobile, so...

My question, just so i can show him your responses, is what does the well imformed society that is PWRX think on the matter, the car only has springs at the moment and if anyone has a similar suspension setup to the above metioned that would take dad for a drive that would be super!

Thanks
ADAM

DEFINITELY get some sway bars under there first.

I had just Kings in my car, then I put in a rear sway bar...made a world of difference.

After that, all at once, came the front sway bar, sway bar links, underbody brace, anti-lift kit, steering rack bushes, diff bushes, fender braces, etc etc...made a world of difference.

I then put the coilovers in, and it made a big difference again.

In my opinion, its the logical progression....go the alignment gear first, then put in the coilovers last. You can still do a motorsport event with just a set of lowered springs, plus all the alignment gear. Coilovers arent a necessity.

sway bars first.

then coilovers.

if you have the option, go both.

and make sure you get a proper alignment.

+ 1 for sways & aggressive alignment.

That will make a HUGE difference. The same can be said for coilovers, but i think you'll be more than happy with the sways/alignment...for now.

Good luck, mate, keep it on the black stuff.

Yeah do both if you can of course!!! BUT, if it must be one or the other, do the alignment gear first.

Both is best

Swaybars
Coilovers
Alignment

Then look at bulk bracing

Do everything you can to upgrade suspension parts within your budget. Even a set of shit coilovers will be better handling than lowered springs with mismatched struts.

Go nuts! Hopefully there will be some more of us at Dutton 08 to join you.
