I guess the benefit is that I won't be using the stock BP5 ECU
Yeah, in standard form it holds the throttle open for a bit when you come off the pedal...makes for revs holding on during fast up shifts and on liftoff into hard braking the car tends to keep driving for a split second . At first I thought it was just me, but both Dean and John Fowler noticed the same thing the first time they drove my car. It has certainly improved after the ECUTek re-adjustment.

I noticed the 'rev hold/over rev' thing too when i drove a friends DBW Lib GT - took me by surprised when it happened - i had to re-assure him that it wasn't my driving that was causing it and that I wasn't riding the clutch and/or dragging the throttle on gear changes.

I prefer the ole fashion cable throttle feel.

Marketing has something to do with it as well. An example is Subaru offering SI drive for the Liberty GT's.

makes sense to have lag in a electronic system

however putting something in line in that system cannot speed it up that signal only slow it down, so this is snake oil at best.
