the stock DBW maps are apparently very coarse, 0-50%, 50-75%, 75-80% and fine adjustments as you get closer to 100% throttle.

what Ecutek would have done is basically increase the resolution across the 0-100% throttle range to make it more responsive

its obvious to me that Subaru weren't happy with the performance of early DBW because the later model Spec-C's were still a cable throttle when the normal market cars had the DBW. I'm of course very interested in this subject because i'll be sticking with DBW in my project, so any more information that anyone can supply will be tops

Personally I would rather this kind of mod being done through the ECU as an output of calculations rather than a magnification of a result...how do you know that the right fuel mix has been added to the cylinder if the ECU still thinks that the throttle is 20% open but it is in fact 40% open? Lean meltdown anyone?

There bound to get the Verso tune for the Liberty just give it some time. It sounds like it can do wonders but is it worth the $400 odd.

Mat, I think Spec C's etc will continue to have cable throttles even with '08...just makes it much easier for competition cars. Personally, I would not go DBW...if at all possible put a cable throttle in. The DBW is one of the weaknesses of the MY06+. The ECUTek fix helps but it still isn't like a cable throttle on liftoff...we can tickle it a bit more and get sharper liftoff, but then you run the risk of stalling on idle...it's all a compromise.

Very interesting discussion on the DBW there. Running slightly off topic, but if cable is better (i.e. better feel) why has Subaru changed to DBW? I've not had the chance to give a DBW a good thrashing so I can't comment yet.

how so? does it keep the throttle wide open for a few tenths longer than you expect?

I guess the benefit is that I won't be using the stock BP5 ECU
